PCF Events in January 2021

We have a busy month ahead with training sessions and coffee mornings.

‘Lockdown: SEND Questions, Information and Advice.’

We have been hearing lots of questions about what the lockdown and school / college restrictions mean for children & young people with SEND and their families, and we have seen lots of different, often confusing information and advice going round.

Please join us on Monday 18th January for an informal online coffee morning – CEIAS will be joining us to explain the legal situation and help with impartial advice, as well as representatives from across the SEND partnership.

This will be an opportunity to get some clarity and share some suggestions for how things can work better

If you have any specific questions you’d like to submit please can you email them to cheshireeastpcf@gmail.com (put lockdown question in the title) and it will give people a chance to find any additional information they may need in advance.

EHCP – Annual Reviews – All you need to know- Training sessions

We are really excited to offer our members some training on EHCP Annual Reviews. The training will cover

  • The legal framework relating to Education, Health and Care Plans
  • The process and paperwork used by Cheshire East
  • Some common pitfalls and myths
  • Top Tips for Parent Carers

We know from our “What 3 things” Survey that this is one of the areas you wanted more information on, so we have asked Smart Bright Training & Consultancy to deliver some online sessions for our members.

You also told us that it’s tricky for some of you to take part in things during the daytime, so we are running the same session twice – a day time and one evening. Places are limited, so please only one per household. They will be offered to members on a first-come-first-served basis, and if all places are full we will start a waiting list.

Please click here if you prefer a day time session –  Mon 25th January 10:00am – 12:00pm

If evenings are better for you please click here to book – Wed 20th January 1830pm-2030pm

We are looking to offer more members’ training soon – if you have any suggestions for what you would like us to cover then please get in touch cheshireeastpcf@gmail.com

Planning for your future – transitions information event

It is a drop in event for young people with additional needs and their families (services aimed from year 9 upwards) no need to book.

It is never too early to start thinking about what you might like to do in the future!

This event will help you start thinking about what matters to you and help you find out all about what is available.

* Representatives from Further Education * Adult Social Care * Health * Community * Travel and transport * Fun things to do * Lots of information for young people, parents and carers *

Cheshire East  Council and Cheshire East Parent Carer Forum are holding this event to help prepare SEND young people with planning for their future.

Coffee Morning & AGM: listening to you

Please join us for tea / coffee, cake and a chat with other parents and professionals from the LA and health about the issues affecting our families as parents of children & young people with additional needs in Cheshire East.

We have decided to try something new for our AGM this year; rather than having a topic and speakers, we are going to try something less formal.

We have invited representatives from the services our families use (Cheshire East SEND, short breaks, commissioning, CEIAS, NHS, charities and more) to come along and meet Cheshire East parents who have children / young people with SEND. There’ll be information about Contact, services for carers and of course the expertise of all the other parents too.

We’d like it to be a constructive event: we all need to “tell it like it is”, but we also need to recognise we can’t change what’s has happened and to focus our energy on what can be done to make it better.  Hope to see you there! Did I mention cake….?

Members can claim their travel and childcare expenses in line with PCF policies.
