CCBS – Residential trip to Isle of Man

CCBS – Residential Trips

CCBS are fund raising for our next residential trips to the Calvert Trust and Isle of Man

RESIDENTIAL DATES:18th to 19th April – Calvert Trust

22nd to 25th May – Isle of Man

Last October we took a group of 20 children to the Calvert Trust in the Lake District and had a fantastic time. For some children this is a first time experience being away from home and being on holiday with their friends.

The weekend away was packed with lots of great activities which included kayaking, archery, horse riding , night time mountain walking , zip wiring, obstacle course, wall climbing and swimming in their fabulous indoor swimming pool which has a Jacuzzi and underwater music.

The children were exhausted and so at bed time every one slept well!

The children had a fabulous time.

We have also been to the Isle of Man to the Joey Dunlop Foundation – again this is a fabulous location with plenty of outdoor activities. We were able to visit the surrounding areas on a steam train, spend time on the beach, we also went canoeing, walking, crab fishing and swimming.

Again this was a fun packed holiday and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The children want to do the same again this year!

CCBS ask for a small contribution towards the cost of the residentials (normally £30)

Central Cheshire Buddies – Busy Buddies club

The Busy Buddies Club is for children with profound disabilities

The Busy Buddies club meet every month, normally on a Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

The cost per session is £7.50. This includes snacks, drinks , transport and entrance fees.

We meet at Springfield school car park and go from there!

CLUB DATES:25th Jan – 15th Feb – 15th March – 26th April

CCBS originally set this club up because we realised that some children were not accessing any clubs because they needed extra support. CCBS have been able to provide this support, we have a great team, some of the team are from Springfield school and some are volunteers, together we are able to offer the children the support they need.

We have recently been attending a swimming session at Alsager Leisure Centre, this seems to be very favourable activity for all the children.

The children also like going to the North Staffs Adventure playground, this is a great place for the children to enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment, there is lots to do at the playground including zip wiring, climbing equipment, giant swing, ball pool and arts and crafts.

CCBS have also taken the children bike riding in Manchester – they have a variety of bikes, trikes, tandoms, to choose from! Safety helmets are supplied.

Central Cheshire Buddies Adventure Club

The Adventure Club is aimed at young people with disabilities between the ages of 13 – 21 years. We meet on a monthly basis and the young people get the oportunity to engage in activities of their choice. The young people are able to meet with their friends, socialise, gain new experiences – developing their independence.

We have a great outdoor area with playground equipment at the centre, a huge sandpit, biking area, basketball / netball area, and a shelter to chat and chill. We invite coaches to the sessions and they encourage childen to take part in activities. This includes tag rugby, football, cricket, basketball and other team games.

We have a sensory and herb garden which the children have enjoyed planting and maintaining, and watching it flourish. We always have an arts and crafts table (painting, making clay pots, jewellery, printing and junk modelling). There is a kitchen and we encourage children to take turns to help make lunch.

We have a games room, chat and chill area where the children can play music, watch a video and generally just enjoy being together and chatting

Central Cheshire buddy Scheme is a voluntary community group which supports children and young people with disabilities to access a range of activities which they would not normally have the opportunity to be involved with.
